Criminal Investigations Division:
- The Criminal Investigations Division thoroughly and professionally investigate crimes against citizens, property owners, and businesses within the city of Texas City.
Crime Scene Investigation Division:
- The investigators are assigned to the crime scene unit. These investigators process crime scenes, recover evidence, process, and store evidence. They also manage the property/evidence room and work closely with the DPS crime lab.
Special Weapons and Tactics
- SWAT is responsible for handling situations involving hostages, armed/barricaded suspects, and suicidal subjects. They also provide perform high-risk search and arrest warrants inside of Texas City jurisdiction and assist other agencies in serving high-risk search warrants.
Digital Forensic Laboratory
- The Digital Forensic Laboratory is a branch of forensic science and investigative techniques that focuses on identifying, acquiring, processing, analyzing, and reporting on data stored electronically.
- The main goal of digital forensics is to extract data from the electronic evidence, process it into actionable intelligence and present the finding for prosecution.
Honor Guard
- The dedicated men and women of the Texas City Honor Guard team train monthly and are well known throughout the area. The Honor Guard team believes in the honor, pride, and serves at the direction of the Chief of Police. The honor Guard team participates in funerals for fallen officers, ceremonial events, presentation of colors and funerals for fallen police personnel.
Crisis Negotiation
- Crisis negotiation is used to communicate with people who are in crisis. Negotiators are specially trained police personnel who are utilized to de-escalate situations involving people threatening violence to themselves or others. This includes, but not limited to, barricaded subjects, warrant apprehensions, search warrant operations, suicidal subjects, and individuals struggling with mental illness. Team members attend a forty-hour basic Crisis Negotiation course and continuous monthly training. Negotiators train and work collectively with Texas City SWAT.
Drone Team
- The Texas City Police Department Drone/UAV team, established in 2020, is comprised of six officers and one Sergeant who have all completed training and hold an FAA Remote pilot's license. The mission of the team is to support all divisions of the department by providing an ariel asset to assist with operations, including but not limited to search and rescue, fugitive apprehension, and high-risk operations overwatch.
K9
- The TCPD K9 Patrol Unit is utilized for building searches, narcotic searches tracking, article searches, handler protection and suspect apprehension. Each team completes monthly in-house training as well as trainings with various local law enforcement agencies in the Houston metro area. Each team is certified yearly through the DLE, Dogs of Law Enforcement.
Bike Patrol
- The Texas City Police Department Bike Patrol was established in 2018. Bike patrol provides targeted enforcement, surveillance, traffic enforcement and public order for events where rapid response is imperative. During events where the potential for unruly crowd situations arises, bike patrol has the unique ability to develop a rapport with members, defusing situations before they get out of control and respond quickly to incidents that are otherwise inaccessible to vehicles. Combined with the unique community of Texas City with the various geographical challenges including Texas City Dike, Tanger Outlets and 6th St Downtown, our bike patrol are necessary members for our success as community police officers.
Field Force Team
- The Texas City Police Department Field Force Team was established in 2021. Officers are specially trained to support anti-riot operations through the use of maneuvers and tactics aimed at dispersing crowds during their embryonic phase by extracting agitators from large groups before persons are harmed or property is damaged. This team trains consistently to be prepared in the event of field deployment for efficient response.
