Community Development

The City of Texas City Community Development Department is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Community Development Department provides various services throughout the City, and supports other City departments.

Some of the service activities that Community Development is responsible for includes, but is not limited to:

  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
  • Demolition of Substandard Structures
  • First-Time Homebuyer's Program
  • Neighborhood Clean-up

There are a few requirements that must be met for each program, and in most cases, there is a waiting list. However, the Community Development Department is here to help you create safe, clean neighborhoods that you can be proud to live in.

The City of Texas City is providing $435,000 in federal funds for rental assistance for Texas City residents who are directly impacted by COVID-19. The funds will be distributed by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
